Morukuru Farm House
Embrace all that is luxury in one of the three private houses of Morukuru Family. As part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux collection, the property is situated on the Madikwe Game Reserve and offers a premier safari and wildlife experience.
This reserve is malaria-free and its rich diversity of vegetation ensures a wide range of wildlife, including the “Big Five”. Choose your South African adventure by day, and then retreat to a perfectly decadent home away from home. Exclusive-use Farm House has five bedrooms, built around a large central courtyard and linked to the living area by covered walkways. The house is spacious and beautifully designed for a multi-generational safari getaway. It’s surrounded by lush lawns for the children to play on, and there’s an inviting pool for summer dips. Never far away, antelope live peacefully too.
The Morukuru Family is committed to uplifting the local community through various projects and, as a guest, you are part of the sustainability model.
Set on flat terrain and surrounded by bushveld, the area around the house is ideal for walks and bush exploration amongst the resident wildlife. There’s a sense of space and a feeling of freedom in the experience. Inside Farm House, the bedrooms are also spacious, beautifully neutral and individually decorated to showcase the surrounding scenery. Bespoke Afro chic accents and clean lines add to the sense of tranquillity that pervades Farm House. And more tranquil a setting and safari you could not wish for – with all the generations you can muster included.
Morukuru Farm House is part of a bespoke bush experience, and operates on a sole use and fully inclusive basis. This means that there are never any other guests besides yourself and those who you invite along for the adventure. Imagine having the entire property and personal staff to attend to your every whim. Adding to the opulence are daily private safaris. Your personal game ranger works with a gifted tracker to bring you the very best that Madikwe Game reserve has to offer. There are no set schedules here, so there is complete freedom to do as you wish, when you wish!
Unique experiences:
• The romantic and luxurious bush sleep-out option overlooking a nearby waterhole, at no additional cost
• Diverse and memorable dining venues, including right in the bushveld botanical herb garden close by

Morukuru Ocean House
Built on only one of four private concessions granted on the 36 000 hectare De Hoop Nature Reserve, and with its neighbouring marine reserve extending 5km out to sea (one of the largest protected marine areas in Africa), the setting of Morukuru Ocean House is one-of-a-kind.
Built entirely off-grid, it is sensitively designed to blend as much as possible with the surrounding fynbos – so much so that when foundations were dug, seeds were collected and replanted in the same position on top of the roof, creating a fynbos roof garden for the upper level of the house. Entirely lined in double-glazed glass, it has to be the world’s most beautiful spot for star gazing and whale viewing, with telescopes perfectly positioned for endless sightings while sipping a glass of award-winning chenin or a botanical gin… that is, if the Dutch-style hot tub hasn’t tempted you. Set in the fynbos just below the house, it’s the perfect way to start or end the day, especially after a morning spent snorkelling the rock pools or an energetic afternoon of sandboarding on the nearby dunes.
Every so often an intrepid hiker will raise their walking stick in greeting as they follow the world-famous Whale Trail along the coastal path below, but sightings are mostly of flapping whale tails and tell-tale water spouts. And over 260 birds are found here but it was the endangered Oystercatchers that we loved watching at the rock pools. Tumbling out of bed for a morning amble down the sandy path takes you to one of many rocky coves and beaches below for a quick swim or yoga session before indulging in a delicious breakfast around the pool. Meals here are as languid as you like, indoors or out, and each day is guided by the rhythms of nature and the weather. And no matter the time of year, Ocean House is deeply cocooning, calming and restful, so much so that it’s very hard to leave…
Unique experiences:
- The isolation: Ocean House is set in one of the world’s most pristine nature reserves.
- Its light footprint: every aspect of this off-grid system is seriously impressive.
- Witnessing the miracle of whale migration and the calving season: mothers and their babies often float close to the shore.
- The pure joy of sandboarding on the dunes.
- A session in the Dutch-style hot tub, set in the middle of the fynbos.

Camps Bay Villa
Splash out in the enormous outdoor rim-flow pool, laze in the sun loungers or fire up the pizza oven for some epic outdoor entertaining under the giant oak tree. Otherwise, step indoors to escape to one of the plush bedrooms or open plan living area with floor-to-ceiling glass doors serving superlative views.
Situated a quick 5 minutes drive to Camps Bay beach, where the strip of world-class restaurants and bars next to the white sandy beach and crystal clear ocean beckons you to unwind and relax all day long.
Unique experience:
- Hike mountains! Behind the house, less than a 2-minute drive is Table mountain and the entrance to Lion’s Head.
