Namibia’s different sorts of climate and very tiny population makes it an easy place to get away from it all. Even when you visit the most popular sights you will feel like you are only a few tourists in the country. Namibia is a safe country with vast distances on mostly dirt roads. Traveling is an adventure and is mostly done by air or road. Self-drive is both encouraged and exciting. You get a feel of the greatness in this beautiful corner in Africa. The roads are generally very good, straight and empty. You will be driving for hours without meeting anyone else.
Don’t rush yourself here, and stay at least 2 nights in a given destination to fully absorb the beauty of the various natural wonders the magical country has to offer.
Watch our trip in 2019:
The most popular destinations here are the Sossusvlei and Etosha National Park. The country has the past couple of years become more and more popular, so a few more lodges have opened. Also destinations previously rather inaccessible have become part of the visitors itinerary. Think of Skeleton Coast, Kaokoland, Damaraland and the Fish River Canyon.
The country is a must for adrenaline junkies, because there is so much to do: hiking the 2nd deepest canyon in the world, sandboarding, quad biking, hot air ballooning etc.
Below you’ll see the best period to travel to Namibia. A timeline can be seen in the overview below. The greener the box is by the month, the better it is to travel to this country in that period!
