About this tour

Volcanoes National Park

Arrive into Kigali International Airport where your African adventure will commence. Marvel at the views of the Virunga massive volcanic range as you drive up to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas of Rwanda. During your three night stay you will gain an insight into the vibrant culture of Rwanda and learn more about how these communities live on the boarder of the national park. A visit to Rwanda would of course not be complete without a gorilla trekking experience. Wake up early, indulge in a hearty breakfast before heading off in search of your designated gorilla family. Your trek will take you through a patchwork of agricultural farm land before entering the dense forests of Volcanoes National Park. Your guide will hack through thick foliage and push through tall fern until you are in the presence of a gorilla family feeding, playing and lounging amongst the greenery. Although the trek can be hard work, the experience is truly rewarding and a must for any wildlife enthusiast.

Our selection of top Rwanda accommodation includes luxury ranch-style lodges, affordable bush camps and stylish city hotels.  Ask me now for advice on choosing the right lodge or hotel for you.

Kigali

Drive down the winding roads from Volcanoes National Park and back to Kigali. Overnight in this compact, vibrant, and safe city and visit  the famous Genocide Museum to understand more about the tragic history of this country. The museum is of course sad but also incredibly informative and certainly worth the stop. Spend a night in Kigali to relax and unwind before an early morning flight the following day.

Optional add-on: Cape Town & the Western Cape

Fly with a direct flight from Kigali to the popular city of Cape Town. During your five night stay there is a huge variety of activities to keep you busy or alternatively you can relax by the pool in the African sunshine, watching the crashing waves of the Atlantic. Walk along the bustling waterfront watching street performers and buying African souvenirs, come face to face with the resident penguins of boulders beach or venture out to the majestic winelands and sample the regions popular wines. It is key to indulge in the many exceptional restaurants the city has on offer, there are so many incredible dining experiences you will find it difficult to choose.

Optional add-on: Serengeti

The introduction of direct flights from Kigali to the heart of the Serengeti have made Rwanda and Tanzania a dreamy pairing. An early morning flight from Kigali to the Serengeti, allows you to have bacon and eggs in Rwanda, followed by afternoon tea and cakes in Tanzania! Spend the next few days looking for big cats, rhino and wild dog on the golden-grass plains, before jetting over to Zanzibar for a dose of sand, sea and sunset cocktails.
