About this tour
Days 1-2:
Your Kenya adventure begins as you arrive into Nairobi and spend your first night at the iconic Giraffe Manor, a beautiful country house set in twelve acres of private land and home to resident Rothschild giraffe. Wake to the sight of giraffe at the window as they come for their morning feed, or simply enjoy breakfast as they poke their heads through the window.
Days 3-6: Samburu
From Nairobi fly to Sasaab, a luxurious lodge located on the Samburu Conservancy. Sasaab is close to the Buffalo Springs and Samburu National Reserves, in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. It’s a place of rich natural diversity with an astounding number of animals from huge majestic elephant to lion, leopard and cheetah and the ‘Samburu Special Five’: the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich. Sasaab prides itself on its hospitality and our friendly and attentive staff strive to make every guests’ experience unforgettable. Explore the African bush in an open 4×4 vehicle or on horseback. With no strict timetables, days are tailored for every guest and you will have the chance to learn more about Samburu culture and daily life in this unique part of Kenya.
Days 7-11: Maasai Mara
A safari to Kenya would be incomplete without time in the famed Maasai Mara and this itinerary is no exception. Lion sightings in the Mara can be hard to beat and during a stay at Sanctuary Olonana, the accommodation will ensure you to be in excellent and safe hands.
Featuring 14 glass-sided suites, Sanctuary Olonana is inspired by the Masai Mara’s breath-taking natural wonders, an abundance of wildlife, and a dramatic river which runs right past its forest setting. Game drives, cultural visits, bush dinners, sundowners, scenic flights and balloon rides, Olonana makes for a wonderful African safari.
From the chef’s organic garden, to the use of sustainable energy sources, Sanctuary Olonana sets a new standard with its light environmental ‘footprint’. Over the years Sanctuary Olonana has also built strong relationships with the local Maasai tribes by working with them to improve their level of health-education and lifestyle, and securing unrivalled access to their culture and local knowledge.
This luxury safari lodge is an exclusive hideaway complete with a swimming pool and glass-sided suites, 3 of which feature an extra bedroom, perfect for families. For wildlife lovers, this is one of the best places in East Africa to witness the spectacle that is the wildebeest migration.
