About this tour
Arguably one of the most dramatic roads in South Africa, this trip across the Garden Route will start off in Cape Town where you will have 4 full days to enjoy every special part of this vibrant town.
From there you will drive to the romantic Winelands for a visit to various wineries, Franschhoek, as well as the historic centre of Stellenbosch. We can arrange a pic nic for you or a lunch with a-view-to-die-for! This is the country of milk and honey!
From the Winelands you will drive along the Atlantic towards De Hoop Nature Reserve. From your room you will see nothing but Ocean and if you are in the right season, you might even see some jumping whales from your hot tub! You also are in the centre of shark haven… only a few steps away you can board a boat and swim with the sharks! Next on the route is one of the oldest towns in the country, Swellendam. This historic town is worthwhile visiting… some nice restaurants and you can visit the most southern tip of Africa from here: Cape Agulhas.
We have planned a stop in the gem of the Garden Route: Knysna. The lagoon, the rock formations and many activities to do makes Knysna an excellent base to explore this part of the Garden Route.
From George you fly to Johannesburg and after a short drive you arrive at an intimate luxurious tented camp with amazing views. At this lodge all meals and drinks are included and you can get ready to come eye-to-eye with the Big 5 in this malaria free area!

Franschhoek - Avondrood
Avondrood Guest House is a beautiful Cape-Dutch home, 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of Franschhoek. After a day out in the winelands, this is a lovely place to relax: settle in on a poolside sun lounger in the garden or pour yourself a drink at the honesty bar.

De Hoop Reserve - Morukuru Beach Lodge
Morukuru Beach Lodge is a luxury 5-suite boutique style eco-lodge in the 36,000 ha De Hoop Nature Reserve along the pristine coastline. It is just a short walk down to the beach and during whale season (July-October) and is arguably the best location for land based whalewatching in Africa. Other activities on offer include mountain-biking, fynbos walks, tidal walks, snorkeling and swimming in protected rockpools, sand-boarding and nature drives.

Swellendam - Schoone Oordt
Schoone Oordt Country House is a charming country hotel in Swellendam South Africa, possibly the best of Swellendam accommodation, with 11 luxury bedrooms set in lush gardens, an intimate Conservatory restaurant, a sparkling saltwater pool and a passion for people, family, food, wine and the environment. The emphasis here is on unpretentious, unaffected luxury, elegance, quality and obsessive attention to detail.

Knysna - Amanzi Lodge
Amanzi Island Lodge is on the edge of the beautiful Knysna Lagoon. This spacious beach house offers luxury, comfort, tranquillity and spectacular views. After a warm Leisure Isle welcome, take a relaxing stroll across the rippled sand and return to enjoy a glass of wine on your private balcony or
patio.

Marakele National Park - Marataba
Marataba is a 23000 hectare private concession within the Big 5 Marakele National Park. Luxurious canvas-and-stone tented suites offer private decks, indoor and outdoor shower and free-standing stone baths. Whether enjoying a game drive, walking trail, sunset river excursion, or a private dinner for two, there is never enough time to exhaust the many ways there are to love this place.
