During a trip in Namibia you are assured of a series of highlights. An easy to travel country, a country that is in no way inferior to the so other popular African countries. Be dazzled by a beautiful African adventure.
The diversity of Namibia
Obviously, Africa is associated with wilderness and beautiful national parks for an exciting safari. The Etosha National Park, located in the north-west of Namibia, is a vast landscape with a large salt flat. It seems as if you imagine yourself for a moment in a moonscape. Easy to travel with your own car and you will not encounter oncoming traffic for a longer period of time. Just you, looking for the big five and everything else on the way.
Beautiful panoramas
Wherever you go, almost every part of Namibia is spectacular and special. The further you travel through the country, the more often you see the landscape change. From rugged green hills, to huge red-colored rocks, to vast barren plains. In the vicinity of Sossusvlei, you will drive on sandy roads and the highest red sand dunes in the world turn even redder at sunrise. The special and yet somewhat eerie image of Deadvlei, a dry oasis with centuries-old fossil trees. It produces spectacular photos!
Caprivi Strip
In the somewhat more unknown north of the country, the Caprivi strip colors the landscape greener, we find rivers (where you can raft well!) And the Epupa Falls and the Ruacana Falls. Definitely worth it if you are in this region, but it also requires some courage because the roads are difficult to pass and a good 4 × 4 is an absolute must!
Culture and tribes
The ancient tribes, the Himbas, live in northern Namibia. In the town of Opuwo you will find “the modern Namibian”, and the traditional himba. It is special to see that both of them walk on the same streets, do their shopping in the same local supermarket, but have had such different appearances. The further north you travel, the purer the environment where the Himbas still lead a traditional existence today. The huts made of clay, the fence of prickly branches to keep the cattle together, the red ocher mixed with cow fat that is spread on the skin to protect them from insects, but also to clean themselves. A special experience to get acquainted with these ancient tribes and learn about their customs.
